Although many scientists have studied the phenomena of preterm birth through field experiments, the medical and scientific society still lacks in the knowledge that is necessary to develop a full treatment for expecting mothers. It is necessary for both expecting mothers and those considering pregnancy to be aware of the likelihood of preterm birth and how they can change their lifestyle to ensure a safe delivery for her and the infant. Preterm birth is extremely dangerous for the newborn child. Due to the shortened amount of time in the womb, the a premature infant can suffer from multiple complications. Such complications include brain damage, lung problems, asthma, and many other disorders that could last a lifetime.
